The Token-Price Log
A token-price snapshot is a model API's published list price — dollars per million input and output tokens — read on a stated date from a stated source. This series is those snapshots, kept: observed list prices, dated — never predictions, never averaged.
Provider prices move: intro rates expire, tiers reshuffle, new SKUs land above the old ceiling. The pricing pages themselves are edited in place, so yesterday's number quietly disappears. This log is the dated record of what the price actually was.

Method
- What qualifies: a named model, a list price in USD per million input and/or output tokens, an observation date, and a source. When a provider publishes only one side of the pair, the other is recorded as absent (—), never estimated. Undated prices are held out rather than given invented dates.
- Where prices come from: each provider's own pricing page, recorded in the Token Price Index research CSV. Third-party-reported observations — a launch price documented by independent coverage before the provider's page could be read — are admitted only when dated, and are labeled as third-party reported in the source column.
- What is recorded: the effective list price on the observation date. A scheduled step-up — an intro rate with an expiry — appears as a later snapshot when it lands, not as a forecast row. Open-weight models priced through a hosting provider carry that host's rate, named in the source.
- Cadence: snapshots land with the weekly desk pass. Every revision is recorded in the changelog below.
